WHY USE ACADEMIC GAMEPLAN?

Who teaches athletes to play a game?
Answer: A coach

Now, who teaches a student how to study?
Answer: ???

This is the root of the problem.  No one is officially in charge of teaching students how to be students.

Schools teach subjects, not skills.  They normally do not teach the rules, fundamentals, and techniques that are essential for a student to compete in the classroom. In fact, with the exception of a rare introductory course, there is no curriculum officially taught by high schools or colleges that ensures a student's understanding of study skills. Execution of fundamentals and techniques are the keys to winning in any game, yet in the "game" of school, these are not taught.

Academic Gameplan is not just a binder, planner and school supplies.

The question is . . . Do you have an academic offense in place that:

  1. Is the basis for academic success
  2. Coaches students in the operational and technical fundamentals of how to be students
  3. Provides uniform terminology and technique throughout the system that gives every parent, teacher, coach and administrator the ability to interact academically with each and every student
  4. Is a developmental system that has checks and balances
  5. Exposes potential problems before they become problems
  6. Puts people in a setting that fosters effective communication

If you do, then you don’t need this system.

If you don’t . . . this is a great place to start.
